1. James Hogue [1] 1 was born on 12 Jun 1732 in Frederick County, Virginia 1 and died in 1808 in Blount County, Tennessee, USA 1 at age 76. Another name for James was James Hoge.1
General Notes: James Hoge serves as a private in the Colonial Army in the Canadian campaign and was captured at Quebec. He was later released. When the Revolutionary War broke out he served in the Pennsylvania line under General George Washington and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown.
The records in the pension bureau at Washington state that he was granted a pension for his services.
While still in Virginia, James Hogue had started making wagons in Virginia and his older sons were likely associated with him in the business. He said he wanted to put the "County on Wheels."
After James Hogue and his family arrived at the home of John Gibson in Pennsylvania his daughter, Martha took sick with the smallpox. She was nursed by her Aunt Martha and recovered. It was she who later married her cousin, Thomas Gibson. After Martha recovered James joined John Gibson, Joseph Woods and several members of the Brazelton and McCartney families and moved to Blount County, Tennessee. They settled near the Hostein River which is about 10 miles from Knoxville.
James has been described as having a very fine singing voice for church choirs.

James married Margaret Parks [2] 1 [MRIN: 1] about 1762 in Baltimore, Baltimore (City), Maryland, USA.1 Margaret was born about 1740 in Antrim County, Ireland 1 and died in Sep 1817 in Gibson County, Indiana 1 about age 77.

5 F iv. Margaret Hoge [19] 5 was born on 2 May 1771 in Augusta County, Virginia, USA.5
+ 6 F v. Martha Hoge [20] 6 was born on 31 Oct 1774 in Augusta County, Virginia, USA,6 died in 1844 in Monmouth, Warren, Illinois, USA 6 at age 70, and was buried in 1844 in Sugar Tree Grove Cemetery, Monmouth, Warren, Illinois, USA.6
