Well Jaimelo here is how it usually goes. Since you are new, most people will probably welcome you and ask you more about yourself.

If you are trolling and/or trying to sell something, I suggest that this be your first and last post unless you have a penchant for being verbally abused in cyberspace.

Your turn. [Smile]

Nice job, Tom. Isn't that Heather's old avatar? Where is that girl? It would helpful, Jaimelo,(nice name by the way), to tell us what you're about, before we attack you mercilessly, which we will do withoug remorse, but I digress. What are your interests? Do you like GWB? Have you ever advocated the violent overthrow of the US Gummint? These are the things we need to know. Welcome aboard.

Huh? He didn't get anything close to the third degree. He was treated quite nicely and with respect. Now you, on the other hand, have a couple of things going against you. The first is reading comprehension. Wanna guess what the second is? [Big Grin]

You have a great weekend too.

Ditto, I haven't addressed you directly, until now.

PSB has friends. I'm one. Cagey is a bigger one. Others, here and other where, care and try to help.

Don't try so hard to be a hard guy. There's a world of difference between being hard and being tough. Learn it, or suffer.

Hope I've been helpful.
P.S. Thanks for your service, and what you do now. Just think a bit more before you puke.

Thanks for saying that Al - I was just about to. I think that Ditto might have meant that PSB would say that he has no friends because he doesn't really trust us or treat any of us like friends. That's probably a fair statement. I do like him a lot when he's not upset.

Otherwise Ditto is just wrong [Razz]

Roger that, Ms Cagey. Friends are often on the margins of one's life. Not inviting you to come on over and hang out, but offering support, as best they can. I, and lots of people are like that. When the need is present, so are they.

Is anyone else getting this error message every now and then? I also get that 'won't overwrite topic' error when I try to start a new topic. The main forum page won't load either.

FYI

 -

As to the error message: Perhaps, like most "Computer Errors", the problem is actually found in the operators themselves - in this case, fellow Forum Members.

I fear that "Certain Posters" have been overtaxing the Forum's capability by creating endless new "Topics" - which are really just transparent attempts to escape and then resume the same old arguments that they have already lost in the "Old Topics".

Tisk tisk "Team Bigotry"! Your posting tactics not only suck, they clog up the computer.

So (one more time), I think that Forum Members should refrain from arguing either for or against their fellow Posters. The Forum should be debating the issues which are presented in this Forum - not forming "secret" posting teams of friends and enemies.

In conclusion, back here in the USA:

The same lesson from that famous scene in "Treasure of Sierra Madre" should also apply in this Forum's examination of any issue, even "The BCA Issue". So, to assist the Forum in finally determining the actual truth of my own "pet" vexing matter, I hereby offer to perform a solo piano concert in Santa Cruz to raise funds for "WHATEVER GOOD CAUSE YOU WANT". (my new program will be ready for public consumption by mid May)

Well.......

First, enable us to enjoy your "virtual presence" out here - then, just "reverse engineer" it!

(heh heh)

Meanwhile, on another Axe:

I would describe the President's combative press conference a few weeks back as a pretty good example of him being the "Political Counter Puncher". No value judgements implied, but, that style of his as a politician is what I've really been talking about.

I see Hilly Bean's shrill Caw Caw - "If you're attacked, you deck your opponent" stuff - as her attempt to master championship level counter punching footwork.

Which brings us to "Tale of the Tape" time Pdskee. Cause, we all know that this one is going to have to be settled "in the ring".

Given that, how do you think she really stacks up as a "Counter Puncher"?

On to more important & immediate matters. Billbo has offered his piano services for a free benefit concert. As this paper is gone at the end of April, I assume this forum will be gone with it. Correct? Obviously, the millions of readers of this forum will have a serious lack of "wisdom input" if this forum disappears. I suggest Billbo use his skills to raise money to rent server time for a new forum. I've read elsewhere that the software for these forums is downloadable for free somewhere. The stickiest issue, of course, would be moderators. Any suggestions? Billbo, chance to be the hero you claim to be!

There was a thread about it last week, indicating that the paper might just become an inner section of a San Jose paper. I really don't know, but as I said, being concerned for the millions of readers, I'm advocating preventive measures. This is why I'm bringing it up now, to avoid a possible massive case of manic depression. And obviously, I'm 3000 miles away and not in an easy position to dive into the details, That's why I'm tossing it out now. Answers, we need answers.

LOL

I think that was just everyone here speculating about it. I suppose anything is possible, but I doubt any shut-down is imminent. It's probably not a bad idea to at least have email addresses of your friends in case we wake up one morning and it's gone.

Finding free forum software and setting it up is easy, but attracting new people on an ongoing basis isn't unless you're linked off a reasonably popular site. If it really did crash we could set up a new one very quickly, and I bet that most people have given at least one other person an email address so that they could find out about it. It is good to be prepared [Smile]

We can always install a free instant messenger program and register using our current screen names too. Everything is in real time. Our individual machines and an internet connection is all that is needed to continue with business as usual.

There are no storage issues for us to deal with either. We can IGNORE the trolls by deleting them from our buddy lists, and never see their BS on the screen.

Three other people have my e-mail address set aside just for the Sentinel forum matters.

SORRY! I can't read what you last wrote on the "racist wing" thread. That entire page is locked down with a message like we saw yesterday...

I haven't looked at this site for at least a week.

I was busy putting up a revision of my genealogy. Evidently someone noticed. Dove was giving away free deodorant yesterday. In an ad. On my site.

The local genealogy society had a seminar at the library Saturday. I knew about it because they had a sign up in the library. It was the 2nd part of a two-part seminar. I missed the first part.

They told me the Sentinel wouldn't print their advertisement. There were some excellent presentations, and they gave out a great handout, a cornucopia of genealogy bits & pieces about an inch thick.

Even though I **** my pants that morning because I couldn't make it 6 blocks to a toilet when I woke up, and I had to use the shirt I was planning on wearing to clean myself, I went.

The meeting room at the library was packed and it was a good crowd. Someone did complain that they were told it was to be for beginners, evidently they felt it was over their head. I felt it was an excellent presentation for beginners. I was particularly interested in deeds and land documents myself and that was the first presentation and (can't remember her first name) Theriot-Reader gave a really wonderful presnetation about tracking down her ancestors sugar plantation in the Louisiana Bayous.

As for treating people like friends, it's really hard to treat people like friends when you're homeless and broke, when you're always needy.

I kept thinking about how nice it would have been to go to that seminar clean, wearing clean clothes, and able to approach people as equals. Well, that didn't happen.

They said something about a bus trip to some library. And I thought that might be fun and I might make some friends. But couldn't you just see me hauling all my baggage around some records office - in a strange place with strange people...

Speaking of Sh!t:

quote:
As for treating people like friends, it's really hard to treat people like friends when you're homeless and broke, when you're always needy.

So if youre not rich you cant have friends. [Confused]

Being civil, polite and responsible for yourself are traits one can aquire without spending a dime.

PSB, thought you might be able to use this:

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Q) I am a 22-year old businessman in Buffalo, New York (500 kilometers west of New York City). I smoke marijuana on a regular basis. I was diagnosed today with irritable bowel syndrome, with my symptoms being that, when I smoke marijuana, almost immediately I get a very uncomfortable bloating sensation on my lower left side. It does not seem to be linked with any other input/output than marijuana (i.e., no other food brings on this sensation, and no changes in bowel movements are noticed).

An article on your page suggests the use of marijuana to COMBAT this syndrome, wheras in my case it actually TRIGGERS it. I have found no other cases of this on the internet or with casual conversations with doctors and other people. Can you offer any insight, or have you heard anything about this?

A) Thanks for your input.

The paper was based on published research abstracts from Medline, and drew on findings from cannabinoid receptor research. Cannabinoid receptors are particularly concentrated in the gut, and it is believed that they may be involved in the control of gut motility.

No clinical trials have, to my knowledge, taken place into using cannabis to treat IBS, although some patients in California and elsewhere have claimed benefit.

Obviously, everyone is different, and different drugs affect different people in different ways. If you find cannabis makes your condition worse, the simple answer is to stop using it.

I know what you mean about there being at least a perception of a built-in un-equalness that makes it hard to be regular friends with people in really different circumstances than the ones that you're in. I remember having to give lectures to my housed staff on why the clients couldn't be expected to treat them like friends. The power dynamic was just too unequal for that to happen - we had the stuff they needed and all the power, and they had little to none of either. Try to remember that the reverse isn't necessarily true, though - sometimes we stigmatize ourselves in a far worse way than anyone else does.

You could store your stuff in a greyhound locker for a day or 2 so that you could go on that library trip if you wanted to. Getting involved in things that you're really interested in and know a lot about is a great way to meet some more locals, too.

Well, I -was- here only to make screen-shots, or some sort of copy, of some of the threads here. One of the reasons I started my site, and that it is what it is, is because I kept spending a LOT of time on things on other people's sites, only to see them disappear. And the record of my bust in Morongo Valley - now in the hands of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - is something I really NEED.

But anyway, where was I?

Oh yeah, well I only skimmed the previous message, and only did that because yours camed up on the board, and caught my attention...

Because I believe the person sitting next to me at the seminar was a Johnstone and that I had spoken to her previously in the genealogy room. You see, William Hogue delivered Barabara to a Dr. uncle Johnstone in New York in 1682. Well, I spent the morning looking up Johnston(e)s in Heritage Quest online, and found a lot of references. Most however, claime the American progenitor came over in abt 1737, which would be far to late for barbara. But there was one which mentioned a Dr. John Johnston in New York in 1719, and that would be the RIGHT one.

So I should be able to tie the Humes together via the Johnstons.

If I hadn't had such an unequal morning, it might have occured to me to ask Ms. Johnston about that, since someone else there happen to mention Heard (of which there are at least several dozen in my tree, and strickland, and I believe a Juanita Strickland has a Hogue genealogy online that makes a definte claim about Barbara's relation to the Humes of Wedderburn. I should look at it again. I know I actually had it in my genealogy for a while, published online, and then did more research and completely discounted it, but anyway...

I was just threatened on the street for about 15 minutes. I thought about calling the police but I did that before and they didn't come. And for all I know that put this guy up to it. He was standing in front of Santa Cruz bookstoor and started yelling at me.

He was yelling something about me being a snitch.

I figure he will probably attack me tonight.

He said something about his girlfriend, a large girl that was sitting in front of Santa Cruz Bookstore, I would assume.

From what I could make of it, she has been telling him things about me. I have no idea who she is or what this is about.

I just called you.

He goaded me into calling the police. I went out (I'm in Pacific Avenue Pizza) for a smoke and he brandished his bicycle seat at me.

One officer came in and spoke to me, then said he had another call.

Another one came in, told me the guy's girlfriend said I'd been ogling all the girls and the guys were tired of it.

And the officer, who's name I did not get, said he knew him quite well.

That's when it all clicked. I replied, "That doesn't surprise me, how much did you pay him?"

The officer made sure I repeated myself in front of everyone at Pacific Avenue Pizza, and then said this conversation is over and left.

There was also a crowd a Chocolat.

You really expect me to sleep?

Really?

Oh, and thanks for the advice.

It's much appreciated.

Look, Craig, all you had to do was say "I'm gay, and I'm not interested in her". That might not be something you'd say to cops other places, but in Santa Cruz, the attitude will be "No big deal".

Instead, you went and insulted the cop in front of witnesses. That's not something smart to do anywhere. [Eek!]

Actually, I did say "I'm gay and that's ridiculous and even if I wasn't I would be interested in that, I value my health, among other things."

And that is almost a quote.

The guy and his girlfriend are still there. I just went out because I really need a bowl, and he pointed at me and had a good belly laugh.

I'm beginning to think this is payback for the Ms. Inhospitality thing.

It sure smells like it.
