I can only find info on the Hogues (Hogg) to the 1700's back to Andrew Hogg who married Alley Murray ( she was from Athol, Maryland). Andrew fought in Revolutionary War and was given land in Kentucky. Cannot find any info farther back. Anyone have info on Andrew?

Craig:
Did you check Dwight Hogge's "Hoge DNA Project"? http://hdhdata.org/hoggdna.html

Actually Mary Keen did marry her husband friend, Henry Rayner, after Thomas Died. She claimed headrights for him and a Thomas Shirley who I'm related to. Henry died very soon after that and she married Robert Broughton. She mentions RAynor in her will of 1662. He maiden name is Thorley daughter of Edward Thorley. She has at least three brothers, Edward John, samuel.
Henry Raynor may have had a son prior to Marrying Mary Keene. She claims headrights for Henry Raynor in 1658. I believe she may have been married to Broughton by that time.

Notice your guestlist had the surname of "Gunter" listed. Is that a variation of Hunter as is Yaegar from Germany? Appreciate any answer. Thanks. F. Kay Hunter Roberts

Your site is unbelievable! What a good job. I am searching for the Hunter line that was in NJ in 1750-1800. My 3rd grt-grandfather, Aaron Hunter, was born Jan.12,1800NJ. He is found in Beaver Co., PA with other Hunter groups which are related to the Hunters from Scotland via Ireland. If anyone has any Hunter ancestors located in NJ I would like to hear from them. I have matched up many Hunter lines but not my particular branch. The DNA found my line is connected to Henry Hunter who married Sarah Whitmel. I have tracked that line to William (the Immigrant/Weaver) b. 1624-1634 Alnwick, IR and migrated into Nansemond,VA. Would love to exchange info with any connections. Thanks. F.Kay Roberts

absolutely love your site! loads of info and great fun! especially enjoy reading the several ways you're related to people. we really are all one big family, as I found out this week when I finally put my Hoge line together with my husband's Howe/Howes line at James Hoge & Elizabeth Howe's marriage. They were cousins...and, now it seems, so are we (just several times removed!)

Your site was so useful! Prior to stumbling upon it, I was stuck at my Great x 8 Grandmother Barbara Hume. From Barbara, was son William. William begat George, George had a daughter, Nancy Ann. Nancy married Noah Smith. Their daughter Lavina married Henry Funk. They had Sarah who married my great-great-great grandfather William Simpson Lang. From there is was Francis Marion Lang, William Hiram Lang, Francis Denley Lang, and my dad Dwaine Delbert Lang. You only have one or two Langs and Funks in your tree.
If I can help you add to it, as you have helped me (in the discovery that Robert the Bruce was my x22 grandfather!) I will be glad to do what I can!

Craig Canada:
I hope you realize that the ggrandparents I have for Barbara Hume are just my best guess. The legends say she was descended from Robert the Bruce, but not exactly how.

Just received info from my mother and am about to set out on a Hyatt quest. I have info that I can add to your pages but wasn't sure about etiquette about such things. Death dates/locations for Nellie Ballard Hyatt, for example.

Let me know how I should proceed.

Hi Craig,

Most interesting site...
I am a decendent of William Gunter.c1630,
brother of John Gunter c.1624 who settled in Virginia around the mid - late 1600's...the origin of the Gunters in the US so I believe.
John left for the US and William stayed in England and ended up in the County of Berkshire.
The line comes all the way down to my great grandmother. Minnie Matilda May Gunter c.1899.

John & Williams father was John Gunter c.1598. From there back we share the same line to a Sir Peter Gunter...Norman Knight. Who is the William Gunter in your tree's 7th Great Grandfather...I think...lol

And beyond.....

Craig, I am looking for information on acouple of portraits of John LaShells/ John and Martha LaShells/ George LaShells/ MaryAnn LaShells and A. Swineford. MaryAnn was given these portraits in her fathers (John) Will in 1847. She died several months later, so possibly they were never given to the Swineford line - (her children). Do you have anything in your family that fits these descriptions? Thanks

Really good work on the Gunter line. I'm working on the same. I've also seen some of the work from Art Gunter.
