"From 1978 to 1986 he was assigned to U.S. Army Missile Command Europe, Headquarters at Heidelberg West Germany where he traveled throughout Germany to evaluate the effectiveness of missile systems used by the U.S. Army in Germany. He collected data on missile programs and briefed commanders of the U.S. Forces in Germany on the effectiveness of missile programs. He was rewarded when he visited the missile sites to see the students he had taught in the missile school using that knowledge in firing missiles.
When the U.S. Army Materiel Development and Readiness Command (DARCOM EUROPE) was established between Heidelberg and Mannheim Germany, Len was assigned to a position on the staff of that command."
