Hi,
I do have lots of info on the Hogues. Here is a little to get you started and I will try to sort out my notes and send you some information as soon as I can. Frances Marion Hogue, born 2 Sep 1885, Sand Rock, Cherokee Co., Al, Died 1 Jan 1952, Anniston, Calhoun Co., Al., son of Joseph Mahoney Hogue born ca 1855, AL (postmaster & lumber manufacturer/ civil war veteran), and Dorthea Carroll born ca 1856 AL.
Other children of Joseph Mahoney & Dorthea Hogue: Cora B. Hogue, Jessie Fields Hogue, Mahala A. Hogue, Johnny Hogue and Alice Hogue.
The father of Joseph Mahoney Hogue was Lemuel Joseph Hogue, born 26 July 1812, Bledsoe, TN, died Sand Mountain, Walker Co., GA (this is conflicting info, found in two different places) or Joseph Hogue born ca 1812, Centre, Cherokee co., AL. and Martha Eliza unknown, born ca 1828 in TN. Occupation: farmer. Residence in 1860 was PO Blue Pond, Cherokee Co., Ala. Lemuel Joe & Martha Eliza had two other children, Eliza M. Hogue and Mary A. Hogue.
The father of Lemuel “Joe” Hogue was Joseph H Hoge,II, 1770-1850 who married Barbara Brawley, 1768-unk death date.
It is said that the line goes back to “James Hoge, born in Scotland, whose son William, Born 1660 in Musselboro, Scotland married Barbara Hume 1683, in NY. Lots of ministers in the family.
There are several, slightly different, genealogies on the web. I haven’t researched any of this myself, so far I have just collected information to be proven later.
Good luck searching for the Hogue/Hoge/Hague Ancestors.
