I suspect Hardy Phillips is the grandson of Zeno Phillips, perhaps the son of William H. Phillips.
Besides the fact that Zeno and his wife Patience Henley moved to this area when their daughter set up housekeeping with John Canada, Hardy named his first born Zoretta. I assume if it had been a boy he'd have named him Zeno.
Also, Hardy named his last daughter Maylessie. John Canada's mother was Melissa Jenkins.
