Randal A. Farrar - He enlisted in the Louisa County Militia, served under General Gates in the Carolinas, at the Battle of Cowpens and Guildford Courthouse. His granddaughter, Sallie Bacon Farrar, related stories of the war he had told her as a child. His pension application, rejected for some reason, stated he was born February 29, 1760; asked not to be sent into the Southern Army due to rheumatism; drafted for duty several times: to guard prisoners; to Richmond to make bullets; and to Richmond and Yorktown where he assisted in the capture of Cornwallis. He apparently served atthe same time with his brother Stephen, who testified that he resided in the same house and knew of his going and returning from Service. (R2448, No. 9263-3, Louisa County, October 1833).
