  	He had sworn and signed on 25 September 1902 an application for a pension. Included in the file were the sworn statement of his witness, G.B. Holder (his brother and comrade at arms), his doctor's statement as to his infirmity, and a power of attorney dated 13 January 1905 appointing John B. Davis to receive his pension payments on his behalf. George G. Morgan – 2004/6 From George G. Morgan: In his own statement, dated 25 September 1902, John T. Holder states that he made no more than $50 dollars in the previous year. He stated that he has a family consisting of himself and his wife, that they support themselves by their own labor, and that they have no homestead. He also stated on 14 February 14, 1903, that he had not made support for himself in about three years. He had been supported mainly by the manual labor of his wife who worked in the fields as a regular hand and by the aid of a son who is 24 years old. He also said he was a tenant, and his personal property is worth less than $50. He said he married about 13 years before and that his wife was still living, both of them living together as tenants on rented land. B. F. Griffin appeared before the court and he attested to having been present when John Thomas and his wife were married in March or April of 1890. The written and signed witness statement is part of John Thomas Holder's pension file at the Georgia Department of Archives and History in Atlanta, GA. A copy of the pension file was obtained in November 1998 and is filed in my records under John Thomas Holder's name. Buried at New Armuchee Cemetery, Floyd County, GA. Brenda Hawkins – 2004
