I thought I'd
found a way out - a way to get out of here and get another place
without losing everything I have. A little remote town with a number
of rentals under $400. I called them and they said my income must be
3 times the rent. I get $989/month from disability...so they won't
even talk to me becuase it's $100 short of three times the
rent.
My garden was stolen, my neighbor's tried to bust me
twice, my car was vandalized, I got a restraining order, went to
court for the hearing - which turned out to be useless, got a 30-day
notice and now it looks like I really am going to be thrown out into
the street and lose everything i have.
It's more than I can
deal with. Oh, and did I mention the first thing they did was take
away my medicine, and then terrorize me for 4 months...
If I
leave here tomorrow will you still remember
me...

The 30-day
notice was sent on the day I called the police attempting to enforce
the restraining order. It is practically a salm dunk retaliation
case - retaliation for my exercise of my legal rights. But that
doesn't really do me any good. I can't stay here
anymore.
Maybe I have found something, there was a new ad
this morning and I just finished talking to them over the phone. I'm
going to look at it later today and most likely will interview with
them tomorrow.
Sigh, but before I left to go looking
yesterday I had the brakes checked. One of the pads is cracked and
the front brakes are 95% worn (the rear only 40%). The desert is
hell on plastic and rubber. Tires only last a couple of years, the
rubber seals around windows must be replaced every several years,
batteries don't last...
$300 to fix the brakes. If the pad
cracks completely the car will grind to a hald and the rotors will
be ruined so we're talking an additional $200 for rotors and more
for towing.
I suppose I should have posted my Oh what a night! thread here. But at the time,
when I showed the police my plants and they told me to get a
restraining order, I thought it was over and me and my garden would
continue happily (more or less) ever
after.

Well, I put
down a little money to hold a place on Friday and plan to move on
Wednesday. Got the phone number today, changed the address
everywhere (it's so much easier to do this on the net) and plan to
spent the next couple of days boxing everything up.
One of
the regulars here offered to help me move Wednesday...for which i'm
very grateful. Quite frankly, I'd be afraid to move out of here by
myself.
The new place is cheaper, an apartment attached to a
house. With a fenced yard and two dogs and a cat. I have a good
feeling about it. She needs someone around, and so do I.
I'm
still paranoid, afraid it's all going to blow up in my face somehow,
but I don't wake up crying afraid I'm going to lose everything I
have (and the cat...)
anymore.

It was a
blessing in disguise! If there are pets there, then that's a bonus
in my book.

Well, thanks
to libertyordeath, I got moved.
I doubt I could have done it
without him. And, poor guy, his car's air-conditioner died in the
process. We got started early Wednesday morning, and didn't finish
until after midnight. And then he came back early Thursday morning
to be with me when I returned the keys and got my deposit back, and
to give me a ride back to my car after I returned the rental
truck.
But the deposit didn't arrive. I thought I was screwed
again, but I finally returned the keys and got the check for the
deposit (in full) this afternoon, and now it's in the
bank.
That means I can get the brakes fixed and pay off the
advance I took to put down money on the new place.
And those
people and that place are no longer a part of my life...a memory
that I intend to forget as soon as possible.
My new place is
remote, in a little community high on a mountain in the high desert.
It's actually quite a bit like a cabin in the woods, even if it is
in the high desert.

The first day
with my desk and computer set up.
Just watched the Pot-TV
news over dial-up. Not bad, but NOT DSL. Bearable I suppose. I just
hope I don't forget what I was going to say before the 'reply' page
comes up.
The brakes are fixed (almost $100 less than the
first estimate, from the same place on a different day...).
I
did my budget while listening to the news...
...and I wish I
could give out bags of good bud to a number of people. And one, in
particular (and his girl-friend). Those people should never have to
buy another bud again.
I haven't bought any in over a year,
and don't have a clue where to get any
myself...

Meant to
mention in the last message that a letter to the editor appeared
from Steve Kubby in the local paper - evidently while I was moving.
It referrred to an article the paper had published about medical
marijuana. Other than the letter from Steve Logan, I couldn't find
an article about medical marijuana. Can someone point me to the
article? Did something momentus happen while I was
moving?
Regarding 187, I'm opposed and always have been. It
would eliminate that gray area that enabled me to show 40 plants to
the cops TWICE (not once, but twice) and ... and ... and ... not be
in jail.
Hhhmmm. I haven't really had time to digest
that.
T'wasn't a total failure.
I certainly never
dreamed when I grew up I'd show 40 plants to most of the police in
town and they'd suggest I get a restraining order and write a
book...
No, not a total failure.
But my garden is
gone.
